The railway transport is a significant logistic element in the economy and the development of the society. The liberalization of the railway sector in the Republic of North Macedonia, inter alia, supports the globalization of the society. The task of the Agency is to promote this transport system, which is economically most suitable traffic system for the Republic of North Macedonia as a continental state, including the cargo, as well as passenger transport, in the same time being environmentally friendly. The Railway Regulatory Agency has a significant role in the liberalization of the railway sector in the Republic of North Macedonia, introducing the competitiveness between the transport companies on the railway services market. The Agency ensures the non discriminatory relations of the Manager of Infrastructure towards all transport companies. The Railway Regulatory Agency is established to provide transparent and non-discriminatory work

of the Manager of the Infrastructure of the Transporters, the Bodies and the institutions connected with the work of the railway, as well as other participants that provide railway services in the railway public transport and functioning of the railway sector in the Republic of North Macedonia.

Vision

History

The Railway Regulatory Agency was established pursuant to Article 4 Paragraph 1 of the Law on Agency Regulating the Railway Sector (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 7/2008) and report on its work before the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. The Agency is established as an independent and non – profit legal entity with public competences stipulated by the Law. Agency’s bodies are the Management Board and the Director. Their Competences are stipulated by the Law Regulating the Railway Transport Market and the Statute of the Agency . The Agency started its work in 2009. At the moment there are 3 employees in the Agency. The fundamental activity of the Agency, pursuant to the Law on the Agency Regulating the Railway Services Market is: - Providing insight and impartiality in the execution of the activities for providing services in the public transport- Transparent and non – discriminatory work of the Infrastructure Management and the railway operator, - Service quality control of the infrastructure and transport companies
